Wuhu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement on June 10 covering two new energy projects. Ning Bo, Party chief of Wuhu, Yin Tongyue, chairman of Chery, and Qu Hui, vice-mayor, witnessed the signing.

Both projects focus on the core industrial chain of new energy vehicles. The Chery Battery Global R&D Center integrates platforms for materials, systems and BMS (battery management system), advanced technologies and smart equipment, with full-chain capabilities spanning cathodes, anodes, electrolytes, separators, cell design, simulation testing and safety validation. The center will be built in the hi-tech zone along with a solid-state battery pilot line and trial production facilities, serving as the global headquarters for battery R&D.

The other project is a power battery PACK production base with a total investment of 1 billion yuan. The plant will have an annual capacity of 600,000 battery packs, to be built in two phases. The first phase, with an annual capacity of 300,000 sets, will focus on the production and sale of power battery packs. Once operational, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of at least 2.5 billion yuan.
