Songjiang delegation visits Wuhu to deepen Delta ties

Wang Huajie, Party chief of Shanghai's Songjiang district, and Wang Jing, district mayor, led a party and government delegation to Wuhu on June 1-2. Ning Bo, Party chief of Wuhu, and Xu Zhi, mayor, joined them for talks. Municipal leaders Cao Xiaoming, Hou Mingwen, Zhu Zi and Pan Feng also attended.

At the symposium, Xu and Wang outlined their cities' economic progress. They discussed ways to implement the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on Yangtze River Delta integration and the directives from the 2026 Delta leaders' meeting. They explored deeper cooperation to advance the G60 Science and Innovation Corridor.

Ning said Wuhu and Songjiang have closely linked industries and shared roots in scientific innovation. He called for closer cooperation in four areas: technology innovation through cross-regional industry-university-research partnerships to speed up the transformation of innovations and the growth of start-ups; industrial development in intelligent connected new energy vehicles, computing power and next-generation IT to extend, supplement and strengthen the industrial chain; institutional reform through mutual learning and two-way empowerment to create a model for coordinated reform in the Delta; and regional exchanges through regular communication mechanisms to deliver more results.

Wang said Wuhu and Songjiang have complementary technology resources and aligned industrial structures and a solid foundation for cooperation. He called for joint efforts to seize strategic opportunities, share innovation platforms, consolidate, strengthen and supplement the industrial chain, and build a modern industrial system. He also urged advancing coordinated growth between Wuhu's vehicle manufacturing, robotics and computing clusters and Songjiang's "2+4" modern industrial system, along with closer urban cooperation, a world-class innovation ecosystem, free flow of innovation factors, and cultural and tourism ties to empower both cities — the "Pearl on the Yangtze" and the "Root of Shanghai".

The delegation also visited Wuhu Ancient City, the Wuhu Industrial Innovation Exhibition Hall, the Planning Exhibition Hall, the Mengxi Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, and the Chery Fengming R&D Center.
