China's first non-stop Yangtze River ship delivery service made its maiden flight in Wuhu
This newspaper (reporters Tian Long, Wang Jun, Yun Pengfei) At about 10 am on April 17, a drone took off from Wuhu Donghui drone delivery service base and successfully delivered daily necessities to the Su Shun 158 ship sailing on the main channel of the Yangtze River, marking the successful maiden flight of the country's first non-stop Yangtze River ship delivery service in Wuhu.
It is understood that there are nearly 2,000 ships sailing in the Wuhu section of the Yangtze River every day, with nearly 20,000 crew members. These crew members have a great demand for material purchase and express delivery. Before this, they could only wait for the ship to dock at the anchorage and then go ashore to buy. This method has the disadvantages of long time, high cost and low efficiency.
In order to meet the needs of crew members and serve the development of Yangtze River shipping, Wuhu Donghui Storage and Transportation innovatively launched the province's first "drone water material delivery project" in September last year, realizing the drone to directly deliver materials to ships docked in the anchorage, solving the problem of time-consuming and labor-intensive crew purchases on shore.
"After the launch of this service, although the crew no longer needs to go ashore to purchase supplies, the ship needs to dock at the anchorage and then start to depart, which still has a high economic and time cost." Wang Guohan, general manager of Donghui Storage and Transportation, told reporters that after more than half a year of trial operation, they have accumulated a lot of experience in drone water material distribution services. At the same time, with the strong cooperation of the competent authorities, postal departments, and telecommunications departments, through multiple tests and test flights, they finally realized the non-stop delivery service for Yangtze River ships.
The successful first flight of the Yangtze River ship non-stop delivery service means that ships sailing on the Yangtze River can purchase the necessary emergency items or daily necessities without stopping or docking, which effectively solves the needs of crew members and greatly improves the efficiency of material delivery on Yangtze River ships.
