On-site Observation & Exhibition of New High-quality Rice Varieties was held by relevant departments of Wuhu Municipality at a local farm on September 10. More than 120 representatives of seed managers, big farmers, grain processing enterprises and seed managers from the city attended the event.

Many rice varieties displayed on site were largely ripened or close to it. “It's a good event. I've attended it for four years on end!” A local big farmer told the reporter happily. By selecting the seeds on site, he has planted rice of higher quality and achieved a big increase both in production and income. Rice produced in Wuhu is gaining popularity as its rice varieties have been well received on the market.

Forty-six rice varieties in over 10 hectare were on display this year. Six of them won the gold medal in the National Taste Evaluation of High Quality Rice. The majority of them were qualified for high level of national high quality rice. They meet the needs of different sowing dates and stubbles.

This exhibition allows big farmers and grain processing plants select seeds on site, which in turn facilitates the structure upgrading of grain planting. It also serves to promote the sales of rice produced in Wuhu.
